Are paragraphs obsolete in the age of TL;DR?

I was recently chastised by a visitor to this website for writing posts that are TL (too long) which he DR (didn’t read). I love the semicolon there.

My posts may be TL, but the paragraphs in my books tend to be short, partly I suppose because I write a lot of  dialogue rather than description. I would say more but I’ve probably already lost you as the average reader spends less than fifteen seconds on a website before losing the will to live. So, here’s a lively article from The Guardian on paragraphs. Click on the paragraph mark if you have the energy.
